Yes, it’s a wolf, not a wildcat, but we still love this new drawing we just bought at the Heard Museum‘s Student Art Show! It’s called DREAMCATCHER and it’s by 15-year-old Navajo student, Miya White. We’re heading up to Yellowstone National Park for a wolf-watching expedition in early spring, so this puts us in the mood. And, for some reason – the girl, the kindred animal, the detailed design of the dreamcatcher – it just speaks to us. We love the Heard – one of the best things about Phoenix.
SIOUXIE LOVES WHITIE by Angela Babby
“Siouxie Loves Whitie” by the Oglala Lakota artist Angela Babby. I found this beautiful painting at the Heard Museum‘s Indian Guild Fair and Market. When I have more money, I will buy a lot more of her work 🙂
FAMILY by John Balloue
FAMILY by Cherokee artist John Balloue, which I bought at the Heard Museum‘s Indian Guild Fair and Market. Despite their danger, Witty Kitty has great respect for wolves! We also love the faces etched into the mountains in the background.
Baron Dixon, Artiste du Cat
The artist, Baron Dixon, who sometimes is referred to as the “artiste du cat,” recently had an exhibit at Witty Kitty’s favorite cat lounge, La Gattara! Above, his TALL TOUCHERS, which we find sweetly romantic. We also really liked TWO SMOKIES, below.
He even did a live painting!
The back wall, filled with his fun paintings. Mr. Squishy Wishy Pants poses in front 🙂
I SEE YOU, by Isaac Coyote
I SEE YOU by a seventeen-year-old Navajo student named Isaac Coyote, which we found at the excellent Heard Museum.
